Some pictures I have taken during my journey in Scotland and England. This side is work in progress: More is to come.

Flight Impressions

These pictures are taken with my cell phone.

Glasgow

The first picture was taken with my cell phone. All the others with SONY RX100-II, a small compact camera.

The first day we only took a look around the vicinity. The next day we tried to see as much as possible (we bought a day travel card for the subway. The last day we went to Buchanan Street, the shopping area of Glasgow and went back home instead of using a bus or the subway.

After searching we discovered: This is the entry to the Necropolis.

Our two favourite buses: Number 10 and 38.

Edinburgh

We took a day trip to Edinburgh. We used ScotRail which is connecting the two cities. It's a 40 min ride. Walking took much longer time. We got a map at the Visitor Center and decided which attraction and sights we would like to visit. We didn't managed to see them all and it took us close to 10 hours. We weren't sure if we would be able to go to Edinburgh for another day. -- Actually it has been very overcrowed with tourists. Maybe due to the upcomming Military Tattoo the next day.

Up on the hill of Edinburgh to enjoy the great view. But before that some steps have to be mastered.

These steps have a name, but we didn't used this way to get down.

First, we went these stairs down. Then we realized we had to get up again.

They constructed some seats and platforms on the hill for the upcomming "Military Tattoo". I don't want to sit on those.

Tour to Stirling Castle

We took a bus tour to Stirling Castle or the Wallace Monument (we had to choose) and a Whisky Distillery (Glenturret). There will be no photos of the distillery, because taking photos was prohibited. Every eletronic device had to be switched off.

Is this already Stirling Castle? I don't know.

All of our grup of six wanted to go to the Wallace Monument. We were the only two who wanted to see Stirling Castle.

You could talk with them or just pose for pictures.

Highlands

These first impressions of the Highlands were taken with my cell phone. The pictures I have taken with the SONY will be in additional galleries following this one.

We had the choice: Long boat trip on the Loch Ness or visit Urquhart Castle. We went for Urquhart Castle. Here are some impressions.

Highlands Part 2, back to Glasgow

On our trip back we saw something very rare: A lot of rainbows! I have never ever seen so many on one day. Not everyone is on photo now or on a good photo. But at least I uploaded the best shots. Some looked more like a colorful fire. One was close to perfect circle.

Trip from Glasgow to London by bus

We took a very long and very cheap bus trip down to London. All pictures were taken trough the window.

London

I have been several times in London. And I was asked if I live there. :-) Anyway, I visited some of the "tourist things to do" and went to some other interesting places. Big Ben and Parliament are scaffolded now. And they will be for another three years. So, anybody out there who wants to go? Do it soon!
